What is Malaysian food all about?

      Malaysian cuisine is known for its generous use of spices. Its uniqueness lies on its diversity. With the influence of Indian, Malay, Chinese and Nyonya cultures, our food are a glorious mix of heritage.
 
'Nasi Lemak - Malaysia on a plate!' 
Did you know, a seemingly simple plate of Nasi Lemak consists of seven (or more) ingredients? Each ingredient is a precious gem on its own. The fragrant coconut rice is cooked for hours, anchovies and peanuts deep fried, chicken pieces marinated and grilled, hard-boiled eggs and fresh cucumbers. And to finish off, a generous serving of sambal sauce made from fresh chillies and shrimp paste. Together, these different items give Nasi Lemak a unique taste & splendid texture. It is truly Malaysia on a plate!

Malaysians are known as the food experts (& critics). Sure, you can find Nasi Lemak or Assam Laksa in any corner of the streets, but to find the BEST will require some smart planning and manoeuvering. Therefore, it is no alien for Malaysians to plan ahead before venturing on a food marathon.
